Who is Jesus?
If you want to know who Jesus is, the best place I can point you is the Bible. Read John, or one of the other true records of Jesus' life on Earth (Mark, Matthew, Luke) or any of the New Testament (or the Old Testament for the prophecies about Him).
Some Highlights
Here are some of the things the Bible says concerning Jesus:
Whenever the unclean spirits saw Him, they would fall down before Him and shout, "You are the Son of God!"
(Mark 3:11)
“I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father but through Me.”
—Jesus (John 14:6)
“…[T]here is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
—The Apostle Peter (Acts 4:12)
He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.
—The Apostle Paul (Colossians 1:15-17)
…being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
—The Apostle Paul (Philippians 2:5-11)
Why Does It Matter?
If you didn't already catch on from reading some of the above quotes, you probably didn't read them very carefully. Here are a couple more to clarify:
“The Son of Man will send out His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who practice lawlessness, and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth. Then the righteous will shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears to hear, let him hear!”
—Jesus (Matthew 13:41-43)
…[A]ll have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed, to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.
—The Apostle Paul (Romans 3:23-26)
Jesus is the only way for you to be forgiven of your sins so that you aren't condemned to Hell for your sins on Judgement Day. This page will help: The Gospel
