The Quarter Game (or whatever you like to call it) is a fun game to play if you are sitting at some sort of table or near some table-like flat area and happen to have some spare change in your pocket.  It can be played with any number of players, but it is especially fun in groups of 2 to 47.

Game Setup

  1. Get a U.S. 25-cent piece.  If you don't have one, I think it will work okay with some other coin, although I haven't tried it, so do so AT YOUR OWN RISK.
  2. Find a flat surface, such as a table or an expensive flat panel television laid on its back.
  3. Tell some other people to come play a game with you.  When they say "what game?" tell them "only the funnest currency-related game that I've played TO DATE!".
  4. Decide who will go first, by seeing who knows the most letters of the alphabet.  In the event of a tie, just go in whatever order you're sitting around the table or something.

Object

Be the first to stop the spinning coin under all five of your fingers, starting with your thumb and ending with your pinky.

Gameplay

Spin the coin on the game surface and try to stop it under your current finger, so that it is standing up on its edge.  You must have stable control over the coin--if it stands for a second and then falls down, it doesn't count, you cheater.

If you stop it successfully, you move on to your next finger and you also get another turn just because you are so cool for stopping the coin thingy.  Otherwise, the coin goes to the next player.
